Our Surgeons
Dr Tsan is a well established and experienced Breast, Thyroid, Parathyroid and general surgeon, graduated from Melbourne University Medical School in 1996. He works both at private and public hospital, and has consultation in various locations to see his patients.
Dr Tsan has been working at Monash hospital, a tertiary hospital in both breast and endocrine (thyroid and parathyroid) unit since 2009 to manage all breast and endocrine conditions. He works closely with the multi-disciplinary team including the medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and endocrinologists to optimise the management of all breast and thyroid malignancies. He works closely with Monash Plastic surgeon to provide reconstruction options for patients undergoing mastectomy
Dr Tsan works in St John of God Hospital and Mulgrave Private Hospital ( previously Valley Private ) for his private patients. He also works at West Gippsland Hospital to provide the services to rural patients.
Dr Tsan has an offices based ultrasound to better assess patients and provide on site FNA if indicated.
Dr Paul Ah-Tye
Paul Ah-Tye graduated with Honours from Monash University in 1992. He went on to be awarded his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2002. Further advanced training was obtained in Gastro-intestinal Surgery at Monash Medical Centre.
Paul is a well-established General surgeon with considerable expertise in procedures ranging from gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery and more advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Dr Ah-Tye’s particular expertise and experience lies in hernia surgery (both open and laparoscopic) for which further advanced training has been carried out.
Dr Chandika Wewelwala
Dr Chandika Wewelwala joined Cleeland specialist centre recently as a Breast and General surgeon after completing accredited subspecialty training in Breast surgery under BreastSurgANZ which is the peak body governing accreditation and training of breast surgeons in Australia and New Zealand.
He obtained the fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2020. He has worked in Auckland City hospital New Zealand in 2020 where he had excellent exposure to a variety of breast surgeries as well as the opportunity to develop expertise in general surgical procedures including laparoscopic procedures. He also developed skills in managing a variety of skin cancers during this time. He then returned to Monash health as a Breast surgical oncology fellow to complete the accredited training in breast surgery. Monash health is one of the biggest healthcare providers in Australia and a high volume breast cancer treatment centre. Dr Chandika gained expertise in complex breast surgical procedures and is now able to offer the latest in the surgical management of breast cancer as well as other breast diseases. He also offers reconstruction of the breast with prosthetic implants as part of breast cancer treatment.
Dr Chandika Wewelwala specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery and prosthetic breast reconstruction.
